'21 WR/TE Leo Blackburn and OT Jakiah Leftwich Talk Recruitment and More
Georgia Tech is inching closer to completing the class of 2021 (the Yellow Jackets' currently sit at 16 commitments for the '21 class). Since taking over as Tech's head football coach, Geoff Collins has strived to keep elite in-state and elite-404 recruits in Atlanta.
Two of the Jackets' top verbal commits in the '21 recruiting cycle are Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake duo wide receiver/tight end Leo Blackburn and offensive tackle Jakiah Leftwich.
Zach Goodall (@Zach_Goodall on Twitter) of SI's AllGators recently caught up with Blackburn and Leftwich and discussed the pair's recruitment and more.
Q: What's the unique offseason been like for you?
Blackburn: I think the offseason's been great. Working, trying to get better every day.
Leftwich: It's going good, getting stronger out here with my teammates working out every day.
Q: What has been the focus of your training?
Blackburn: Cones, getting on the cones, running routes, basically everything to get my feet right and just make me faster in my routes.
Leftwich: I would say just getting stronger, day by day, and perfect my craft.
Q: What are your goals for the season should it happen?
Blackburn: I'm just trying to go above and beyond, I want to score every time I touch the ball. Maybe a touchdown every game.
Leftwich: Be the best offensive tackle I can be, win the championship and compete.
Q: What are your strengths at offensive tackle (Leftwich)?
Leftwich: Using my feet well, my strength, my size.
Q: You're committed to Georgia Tech (Leftwich)?
Leftwich: Yessir.
Pretty firm?
Leftwich: Yessir. 100%.
Q: What's your relationship like with the [Georgia Tech] coaches (Blackburn)?
Blackburn: Great relationship. I'm not changing my mind, I'm locked in.
Your recruitment is shut down?
Blackburn: You could say that.
Q: Taking any other visits if they happen?
Blackburn: Yeah, if we're able to take visits, I'll still take some visits.
Leftwich: I don't know at this point.
