Hamrick said he was excited to learn of the Yellow Jackets' offer.
"I plan to build relationships and get down there [to Georgia Tech], and get around some people to feel it out," Hamrick said.
With schools such as UNC, Duke and Arkansas recently adding to the mix, the linebacker from Shelby (NC) is excited for the chance to expand his horizons.
"Being from a small town like I am, any and every opportunity to get out is life changing. I appreciate it all," Hamrick said.
The 6-foot-3, 197-pound Hamrick stated he plans to tour the Flats once the temporary recruiting dead period is lifted.
"Since I have two years left of high school, my plan is to try to get as many visits in as possible," added Hamrick. "Georgia Tech is not that far away so getting there shouldn't be an issue."
Ranked as the no. 66 overall prospect in the 2022 recruiting cycle, Hamrick takes advantage of his length and athleticism against opposing offenses. Hamrick primarily plays defensive end at his high school, but his upside lies in his versatility.
As his recruitment remains on the rise, there are certain factors that will play into which program Hamrick chooses.
"I'm looking for a great, honest coaching staff as well as a good weight and conditioning program," said Hamrick. "Family feel, and somewhere that will showcase what I can do from multiple positions on defense. Final decision will be based off where I can see myself best academic and athletic wise. I'm big on academics and my support system makes sure of it. With Georgia Tech having a strong background in education, that's already a plus for me."
