Domantas Sabonis agrees to huge contract extension with Sacramento Kings

The former Gonzaga star will reportedly get $217 million over five years

Another former Gonzaga men's basketball star cashed in during NBA free agency.

On the heels of Rui Hachimura's $51 million deal with the Lakers, Domantas Sabonis reportedly agreed to a 5-year, $217 million contract extension with the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night. Sabonis had one year remaining on the 4-year, $74.9 million contract he signed with the Indiana Pacers in 2020.

Sabonis, 27, just finished his first full season with the Kings, leading them to the playoffs for the first time in 16 years. He averaged 19.1 points, 12.3 rebounds and 7.3 assists and was named third-team All-NBA. He's only the second player in Gonzaga history to earn All-NBA honors, joining Hall of Fame point guard John Stockton.

Sabonis was drafted No. 11 overall in 2016 after two stellar years at Gonzaga. During his sophomore season in 2015-16 he averaged 17.6 points and a WCC-best 11.8 rebounds per game, leading the Zags to their second consecutive Sweet 16 appearance.
