San Diego (10-8, 0-3 WCC) got off to a hot start to begin the season winning four of its first five games, but the Toreros have hit a rough patch as of late and enter this matchup on a three-game losing streak after opening WCC play against three of the top four teams in the conference.
Deuce Turner and Wayne McKinney III have provided a nice one-two punch on offense with both players averaging more than 14 points per contest, but their solid production has not been enough to offset a subpar defense that allows nearly 75 ppg (seventh in the WCC).
Pepperdine (8-10, 1-2 WCC) picked up its first conference victory with a 93-78 win over Pacific on Thursday that saw the Waves turn in their best shooting performance of the season.
They started the game hot and never cooled off, finishing with season highs in both shooting percentage (56.7%) and three-point field goal percentage (52.4%).
Jevon Porter finished the game with a season-high 26 points, while Michael Ajayi added 21 points and a game-high seven rebounds.
Pepperdine ranks sixth in the conference in both points scored (72.6 ppg) and points allowed (71.9 ppg).
