The Southwestern Athletic Conference revised its Spring 2021 Preseason All-SWAC team roster and projected award honorees. The most notable change was the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, Aqeel Glass, quarterback from Alabama A&M. Jackson State’s linebacker Keonte Hampton was penciled-in as the Preseason Defensive Player of the Year.

According to the SWAC Press Release, Glass will also receive the All-SWAC first-team honor at quarterback. The St. Louis native was a 2nd-Team selection in 2020. The Alabama A&M Bulldog led all SWAC quarterbacks last season and passed 3,600 yards (1st), 32 touchdowns (2nd), and 11 interceptions for a 61.2% (273/446) completion rate and 147.8 QBR. He significantly progressed from his 2018 campaign, where is completed 194/346 passes for 2,421 yards, 20 touchdowns, 9 interceptions, and a 128.7 QBR.

In 2020, Glass had an impressive two-week stretch versus JSU and Southern. One of his best games was against Jackson State University, where he guided the Bulldogs to a 48-43 victory. Glass connected 25/40 for 410 yards, 4 touchdowns, and 0 interceptions for a 181.6 QBR at home. The following week, Glass tossed 4 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and notched a 194.9 QBR in the 35-31 loss at the Jaguars.
