Ty Berry Out For Season; Northwestern Plays At Rutgers Thursday, At Indiana Sunday

Northwestern guard Ty Berry is out for the season with a torn meniscus. The 6-foot-2 senior is averaging a career-high 11.6 points per game and shooting a team-best 43.3% from 3-point range.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Northwestern will be without a key player when it travels to Indiana for a 3 p.m. ET tipoff Sunday.

Coach Chris Collins announced Wednesday that senior guard Ty Berry will miss the remainder of the season with a torn meniscus.

Berry has been a mainstay in Northwestern's rotation for four seasons, making 74 career starts and playing at least 14.5 minutes per game every year. As a 6-foot-2 senior, he's averaging a career-high 11.6 points and shooting a team-best 43.3% from 3-point range on 5.5 attempts per game. He's fourth on the team in scoring and minutes per game, along with averaging 3.9 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.3 steals.

Berry has started 23 games this season, but he did not play last Sunday when the Wildcats defeated Penn State 68-63 at home. Replacing Berry, 6-foot-7 sophomore Nick Martinelli made his first career start and scored 11 points.

Without Berry the rest of the way, Northwestern will rely more heavily on point guard Boo Buie (18.8 ppg), guard Brooks Barnhizer (14.8 ppg) and guard Ryan Langborg (12.0 ppg).

Before playing the Hoosiers, Northwestern travels to Rutgers for a 6:30 p.m. ET tipoff on Thursday.
