Iowa Football added another member to its 2025 recruiting class on Wednesday. River Falls (Wis.) High tight end Eli Johnson announced his Hawkeye pledge on social media.

Johnson became the sixth known verbal commitment in Iowa's '25 group. He joined Joey VanWetzinga (OL/DL, Pleasant Valley), Burke Gautcher (LB, Illinois), Carson Cooney (LB, Illinois), Jimmy Sullivan (QB, Indiana) and Thomas Meyer (TE, Clear Lake).

Meyer and Johnson check in at 10th and 32nd, respectively, in the 247Sports composite national tight end rankings for '25. It's a position at which Iowa has thrived in producing top talent for the NFL.

According to Max Preps, Johnson (6-6, 230) appeared in six games last fall. He caught 13 passes for 168 yards and five touchdowns.

Johnson reports running the 40-yard dash in 4.69 seconds on his Hudl page. His junior highlights reveal a fluid athlete advanced in the receiving game. He lines up wide, in the slot and in-line during the film, showing off his versatility.
