Luke Elkin, a 2021 long snapper from Neenah, Wisconsin, announced his decision to be a preferred walk-on at Iowa.

"I want to thank my family for helping me and guiding me through this process," Elkin tweeted Tuesday. "I want to thank all of my coaches who have coached me and put me where I am today. I also want to thank my friends and teammates for continuously pushing me to improve. I am super excited to become a Hawkeye and looking forward to what the future holds. I am committed to the University of Iowa."

Kohl's Kicking ranks Elkin as the ninth-best long snapper in the 2021 recruiting class. He's the first specialist to commit in the class.

"Elkin is a special kind of talent within this 2021 class, he brings explosiveness, athleticism, and size that make him a prospect to keep an eye on," Kohl's Kicking writes. "Elkin performed great at the Kohl's National Scholarship Camp scoring 9 out of 12 long snaps and posted an impressive .66 second average snap time. Elkin also won the speed gun competition by snapping the ball 38 MPH."

Neenah High School used Elkin just about everywhere on the field last season. Defensively, he had 26 total tackles and an interception.

Elkin also played quarterback, where he completed 47.2% of his passes for 798 yards, seven touchdowns, and six interceptions. He ran for 383 yards and seven touchdowns while catching five passes for 48 yards.

Elkin is now the 16th prospect in Iowa's 2021 recruiting class, which ranks 10th in the nation and third in the Big Ten.

Elkin's commitment comes just a day after Arlington Heights, Illinois, defensive tackle Jeremiah Pittman announced his commitment to the Hawkeyes.
