A shock could overtake the college basketball world, as it sounds like Kentucky head basketball coach John Calipari could take the Arkansas job.

Reports are coming out from all over the national media that Calipari and Arkansas have mutual interest, and the Wildcats could be looking for a new head basketball coach.

After the 2023-24 season, when Kentucky lost to Oakland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, a change could be a good thing in Lexington.

It hasn't been working for Coach Calipari over the last few years, as the Wildcats haven't made a deep run in the tournament since 2019.

If Calipari were to take the Arkansas job, the Wildcats will be looking for a new head coach, and a name that could be thrown around a ton is Alabama head coach Nate Oats.

Oats is fresh off a Final Four run with the Crimson Tide and has won multiple SEC Championships over the last few years.

What comes as a shock is that Calipari would stay in the SEC. It wouldn't have been surprising if he took another job outside of the conference, but this is not a surprise many would have had on their bingo card.

More than likely, more news will come out tomorrow on this situation, but it seems like Calipari's foot is out the door.

It would be hard for Calipari to stay in Lexington after having serious conversations with the Hogs.

The most historic program in all of college hoops could be looking for a new coach.
