John Calipari shares his thoughts on Travis Perry winning the State Title

John Calipari had high praise for Kentucky signee Travis Perry.

Kentucky 2024 signee Travis Perry and his Lyon County teammates just won the State Championship after a historic season. In the championship game against Harlan County, Perry scored 27 points en route to a 67-58 win for the Lyon County Lions. Perry was Kentucky's Gatorade Player of the Year this season and is the all-time leading scorer in the state.

Coach Calipari had this to say about Travis Perry winning the State Title when asked during his radio show, "I'm happy his desire, just like Reed's is to play at Kentucky. They have a special place in their heart for this state and this program."

Reed Sheppard and Perry are two of the best players in Kentucky high school basketball history, so knowing that both will have played their college hoops at the University of Kentucky should bring Big Blue Nation a ton of joy.

Sheppard will more than likely move on to the NBA and be a top-ten pick in the upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. Perry will get ready to finish high school and make the move to Lexington, where he hopes to see a significant role in his freshman season.

Coach Calipari and Perry seem close, and you will definitely see the sharpshooter on the floor next year. Perry is an elite shooter, and he moves without the basketball better than any recruit I have ever seen. During the 2024-25 Kentucky basketball season, the Wildcats will once again have a Bluegrass State legend playing in Rupp Arena. Perry will be a part of an elite 2024 recruiting class for Coach Calipari.
