Kentucky basketball's roster for the 2023-24 campaign will likely look much different compared to the past two seasons.

With six seniors yet to announce decisions and five incoming freshmen, there won't be many spots open for coach John Calipari to fill via the transfer portal. One name that entered on Wednesday may raise some eyebrows, though.

After playing three seasons at Iowa, Ahron Ulis, the brother of former Kentucky point guard and current Kentucky assistant Tyler Ulis, is in the transfer portal with one season of eligibility remaining.

Ulis averaged 6.1 points and 2.1 assists in 22.5 minutes-per-game for the Hawkeyes, an uptick from his first two seasons in Iowa City. After not starting as a freshman or sophomore, he made 27 starts this season, shooting 39.6 percent from the floor and 31.9 percent from 3-point range.

He had five games where he reached double-figures scoring, highlighted by a 17-point outing in a loss at Michigan State on Jan. 26. Ahron was a 3-star recruit coming out of Chicago Heights, Ill. in the class of 2020.

Tyler Ulis joined the Kentucky staff as a graduate assistant in the middle of the 2022-23 season. He played two seasons at UK from 2014-16, with the latter witnessing he become an all-time fan favorite of Big Blue Nation. He averaged 17.3 points, 7.0 assists and 3.0 rebounds and started his final 35 games as a Wildcat.

Kentucky will await the decisions of guards Cason Wallace, Sahvir Wheeler, CJ Fredrick and Antonio Reeves, while Rob Dillingham, DJ Wagner and Reed Sheppard will all enter the fray next season. If a spot for a guard happens to arise, Ulis will certainly be a name that's mentioned.
