Fan-Favorite Reed Sheppard Has Been Impressive for Kentucky Basketball Early

Sheppard has looked great for Kentucky through three games this season.

Kentucky basketball is getting some major run out of backup guards Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard.

The two combined for 31 points on 10-of-17 shooting against No. 1 Kansas on Tuesday night. Sheppard himself had 13 points, four steals and an assist in 16 minutes of action.

He's been a do-it-all guard for the Wildcats, and if he continues to play the way that he has, he deserves more playing time.

Through three games, Sheppard is averaging 9.3 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 56.3% from the floor (55.6% from deep). That efficiency isn't going to stay the same through the course of the season, but Sheppard has done a phenomenal job of choosing his spots and knocking down shots when he's open.

The final shot against Kansas was ill-advised, but he wasn't the first look on the play and it was a high pressure situation. Sheppard will only get better for UK.
