Kentucky Briefing: Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard named to the Midseason Top 25 Wooden Award Watch List

Could Antonio Reeves or Reed Sheppard win the Wooden Award?

The Wooden Award is given every year to the most outstanding player in all of college basketball. Kentucky's two recipients of the award were Oscar Tshiebwe in 2022 and Anthony Davis in 2012.

A list just came out for the Midseason Top 25 Wooden Award Watch List and both Antonio Reeves and Reed Sheppard were on the list.

Reeves is averaging 18.6 points per game to go with 4.3 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He is shooting 41.9% from three this season. Sheppard is averaging 11.9 points per game to go with 4.4 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 2.5 steals, and 0.8 blocks. He is also shooting 53.6% from deep, which is one of the best percentages in college basketball.

It's hard to think that one of these two would win the award unless they finished the year on a tear, but it is great to see the Kentucky star guards getting some national recognition.

There is no doubt that Reeves and Sheppard are two of the best players in all of college basketball this season.

Andy Patton raised the question of whether or not it's time to hit the panic button on Justin Edwards.

"It is hard to find much to complain about when looking at John Calipari's Kentucky Wildcats, who are 12-2 and could very well be a Top 5 team next week when the AP Poll refreshes."
