Three Kentucky players selected in the first round of ESPN's most recent NBA Mock Draft

How many Wildcats will be selected in the NBA Draft?

The college basketball season is over for the Kentucky Wildcats, and in a few weeks, after a champion is crowned, it will be over for everyone.

When the season officially ends for each school, we will shift focus to the transfer portal and upcoming 2024 NBA Draft. While the 2023-24 season didn't end the way Kentucky fans would have hoped, there are still a handful of players who will be selected in the upcoming NBA Draft.

ESPN put out a mock draft update after the first weekend of NCAA Tournament play, and Jonathan Givony, who made it, had three Wildcats going in the first round. Givony had Rob Dillingham going third overall, Reed Sheppard going seventh overall, and Justin Edwards going 30th overall.

Dillingham going in the top five comes as no surprise, thanks to his ability to create his own shot and score from anywhere on the floor. His game projects really well for the NBA, and he has a real shot at being the Rookie of the Year next season. Edwards played well down the stretch for the Kentucky Wildcats, and it would not be surprising to see this late push from the freshman get him back in the first round.

What will be interesting is seeing whether or not Sheppard's poor play in the NCAA Tournament will hurt his stock with NBA scouts. On the big stage, Sheppard struggled, so this could hurt the sharp shooter's stock.

Once again, Kentucky will have a bunch of players selected in the upcoming NBA Draft thanks to the season many of the talented freshmen put together.
