Louisville Commit T.J. Robinson Shines in Nike EYBL's First Session

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The offseason high school basketball circuits have only just begun, but T.J. Robinson is not wasting any time putting his playmaking and scoring talents on display.
The Class of 2024 guard and Louisville men's basketball commit took part in Session One of the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League down in Atlanta, Ga this past weekend, and was arguably the brightest star on a loaded N.J. Scholars squad.
He played a key role in his team going a perfect 4-0 on the weekend, leading the N.J. Scholars in scoring and assists with 16.3 points and 4.0 assists per game. He also shot 41.9 percent from the field, 8-of-24 on three-point attempts and 21-of-28 on free throws.
Robinson's best performance came on Saturday against Meanstreets, when he poured in 20 points, six assists and five rebounds in an 88-83 win. He shot 50 percent from the field and at least 40 percent on threes in all but one of his four games in Session One.
Robinson has been verbally committed to Louisville since last October, and is currently head coach Kenny Payne's only commitment in the 2024 cycle. He held offers from LSU, Georgetown, Kansas State, Temple and others before deciding to choose the Cardinals.
“The coaching staff at Louisville really stood out to me with them having multiple coaches coming from winning programs,” Robinson told On3 when he committed “With almost an all NBA staff, it showed me how different they were from other colleges. From the first conversation with coach Kenny Payne, it was great. He is very honest and wants you to get to the next level so he’ll push you and help you to get there as much as he can. I believe in Coach Payne and I don’t believe I would find another coaching staff like Louisville so that’s ultimately why I chose them.”
The 6-foot-4, 160-pound point guard entered last summer as an unranked prospect, but had standout showcases in both the U16 leg of the 2022 Nike EYBL and the NBPA Top 100 Camp. He would then go on to average 21.0 points per game during his junior year at Montclair (N.J.) Immaculate Conception, including a 50-point game last December.
Robinson is now ranked as the No. 22 point guard and No. 141 prospect in the Class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite.
