LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville men's basketball program's 2023-24 roster is finally complete, as Ty-Laur Johnson has committed to play for the Cardinals.

Here is Louisville Report's full evaluation of Robinson:

Prospect: Ty-Laur Johnson
Position: Point Guard
Measurables: 6-foot-0, 160 pounds
School: Bronx (N.Y.) Our Savior Lutheran / Overtime Elite
Top Offers: Creighton, DePaul, Memphis, Mississippi State, NC State, St. John's
247Sports Composite Rating (Nat'l Rank): 0.9672 (77th)

Highlights:

Frame: Johnson is a little bit shorter than most players that Kenny Payne typically likes to target, but he makes up for by already having a decently-toned upper body and a solid wingspan. He might have to add a small amount of weight, but not much.

Athleticism: As you can imagine given his frame, Johnson is incredibly shifty and agile. He moves well in the open court, has quick feet, can stop and go fairly quickly, and is overall fluid with the ball in his hand. For a point guard, he also has a good vertical, and does occasionally play above the rim.

Instincts: Johnson is the very definition of a point guard. He's very much a floor general type, as he always seems to want to dictate what is going on offensively with a dominating mindset. Thanks in part to his physical intangibles, he has incredible handles. Whether he's one-on-one, on the drive or in traffic, he always has the ball in a tight window. When it comes to his passes, he has a flair for the dramatic, consistently displaying crafty or flashy passes that are highlight reel worthy. On the drive, he has a very good hesitation move and a consistant floater. Despite being just six feet tall, he's very aggressive underneath the rim and in traffic, and knows how to get to his spot.

Polish: As is the case with volume scorers, Johnson's shooting percentages leave a little to be desired. He does have a good mid-range/outside jumpshot, but he is very streaky with it. His release placement and timing could improve some, and his shot selection isn't the best at times. While he regularly displays awe-inspring passes, he also has a tendency turn the ball over, having a 5.7-4.2 assist-to-turnover ratio in the Overtime Elite. Defensively, he does have good timing when it comes to poking the ball out for steals, but he also needs to work a bit on the urgency of his closeouts. Johnson is also an underrated offensive rebounder.

Bottom Line: Overall, this is great pickup for Kenny Payne and Louisville. Some work will have to go towards the fundamentals, but Johnson already has a natural feel for how to run an offense, whether that be setting up his teammates or taking over himself. Him and Skyy Clark will be a great one-two punch at point guard for the 2023-24 season.
