Louisville men’s basketball signed three players for the 2020 recruiting class this week. D’Andre Davis, Jay Scrubb and JJ Traynor signed National Letters of Intent to continue their basketball careers at Louisville.

The Cardinals’ class is ranked ninth by 247sports.com and 16 by Rivals.com

“We are excited to announce the signing of three special young men to the Louisville basketball program,” Louisville head coach Chris Mack said. “Jay Scrubb, D’Andre Davis and JJ Traynor will be joining us sometime over the summer and the Cardinal basketball program will be better because of their additions.”

Davis, a 6-foot-5 guard and forward averaged 16.9 points and 8.3 rebounds as a junior at Lawrence Central in Indianapolis. He is ranked as the 95 best player in the nation by 247sports.com and 110 by Rivals.com.

“De’Andre is a winner,” Mack said. “He’s a complete player on both ends of the floor. He reminds me of a young Dwayne Sutton. Whatever the coach needs, Dre is going to do his best to get it done. Offensively he’s very versatile, showing the ability to score both inside and out. Defensively, he has the same type of ability, being able to guard multiple positions using his length, athleticism and toughness.”

Scrubb, a graduate of Trinity High School in Louisville, will return to his hometown after playing at John A. Logan College in Illinois. Scrubb, a 6-foot-6 guard, is the top-rated junior-college prospect in the nation.

He averaged 20.2 points and 8.9 rebounds as a freshman.

“Jay is one of the best players in the country at the junior college level,” Mack said. “He’s fearless, athletic and can score in bunches. Defensively he has the makings of a stopper. Being a native of Louisville, he’s excited to put on that Cardinal jersey next season.”

Traynor, a 6-foot-8 forward, averaged 11.2 points and 8.6 rebounds for Bardstown last season. With a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Traynor is ranked 79 nationally by 247sports.com and 88 by Rivals.com. He is Kentucky’s only basketball player ranked among the nation’s top 100 players.

“JJ has his best basketball way ahead of him,” Mack said. “The growth our staff has seen in JJ from last year to this year doesn’t happen often. He is beginning to really take off as a multi-faceted athletic forward. He can face you, he can post and his ability to play above the rim is impressive. As he makes changes to his body via the weight room, JJ’s unlimited potential will be realized.”
