Louisville Opens as Three-Point Road Favorite vs. NC State

The Cardinals travel to Raleigh to face the Wolfpack in their first true road game of the season.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Following a dominating outing in their ACC home opener against Boston College, oddsmakers are liking the Louisville football program to continue their undefeated start to the season when they travel to NC State for their first true road game of the season.

According to Circa Sports, the Cardinals have opened up as a -3.0 point favorite over the home Wolfpack. The over/under has been set at 56.0.

In their last game, Louisville (4-0, 2-0 ACC) put on an offensive show of force in their 56-28 win over Boston College, matching their best start to a season since 2016. Quarterback Jack Plummer went 18-for-21 for 388 yards and five touchdowns with another score on the ground, while running back Jawhar Jordan collected 209 yards of offense and three total touchdowns.

As for NC State (3-1, 1-0 ACC), they haven't been as dominant early in the season as many expected them to be. Their two wins against FBS competition - which were against two of the worst teams in the FBS in UConn and Virginia - were only won by a combined 13 points, and they were blasted at home by Notre Dame in week two.

Louisville is 2-2 against-the-spread so far this season, whereas NC State is just 0-4. The Cardinals were able to cover vs. Murray State (-43.5) and vs. Boston College (-14.0), but failed to do so vs. Georgia Tech (-7.0) and vs. Indiana (-10.0). The Wolfpack were unable to cover at UConn (-14.5), vs. Notre Dame (+7.0), vs. VMI (-42.5) and at Virginia (-8.5).

Kickoff at NC State is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 29 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
