Win builds confidence, proves consistency
Louisville coach Scott Satterfield hopes the Cardinals' 41-39 victory over Boston College, their first conference win since 2017, entices players to work even harder. The locker room celebrated after the win that improved Louisville's record to 3-2, an atmosphere that Satterfield wants players to get used to experiencing.
"We're just trying to be consistent," Satterfield said. "From day one, when we came in here, this is who we are, this is how we are going to run our program. We're going to hold you accountable."
Players were asked to do things they hadn't done before. The coaching staff demanded great effort and attitude, a combination that Satterfield believes leads to becoming a good football team.
"It's all about giving great effort and coming to work every single day and being consistent," Satterfield said. "These guys are now seeing the fruit of that labor and that hard work. We have to continue to do that."
Though the program isn't where it needs to be according to Satterfield, he wants the team to stay in the moment as the season progresses.
"We really have to clean up a lot of things, and that's what we're continuing to strive on," Satterfield said. "What can we do today to get better? We don't really step outside to look at the big picture."
Louisville has a tough road test in Wake Forest Oct. 12. Wake Forest is 5-0 and averaging 35.8 points per game with an offense averaging 515 yards. The game kicks off at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
