Louisville RB Jawhar Jordan Named to Doak Walker Award Watch List

The award is presented annually to the top running back in college football.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville running back was named one of the preseason candidates for the 2023 Doak Walker Award, an award presented to the nation's top college running back.

Jordan led the Cardinals in rushing last season with 815 yards and four touchdowns after taking over as the starter late in the season.

Appearing in 13 games, Jordan recorded four 100-yard rushing games, including three consecutive games to close the season. He rushed for 105 yards in a win over North Carolina State and registered a season high 145 yards in a loss to Kentucky. The Long Island, N.Y., native was named the Most Valuable Player of the Fenway Bowl after rushing for 115 yards and a pair of scores in a win over Cincinnati.

Jordan needs 91 yards to became the 45th player to rush for 1,000 yards in a career at Louisville.

The list features 2022 Doak Walker Award finalist Blake Corum who rushed for over 132 yards per game through Michigan's first 11 contests before suffering a season-ending knee injury. Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss who was a semifinalist for the Award and led the SEC in rushing in 2022, Braelon Allen from Wisconsin, who has amassed 2,500 rushing yards over the past two seasons, and Raheim Sanders from Arkansas who rushed for 1,433 yards in 2022, are also featured among the list of preseason candidates.
