The latest buzz on the recruiting trail for Mulkey and the Tigers:

The Upcoming Visit: Aaliyah Chavez

The No. 1 prospect in the 2025 class will make her way to Baton Rouge for an official visit to LSU the weekend of Oct. 14. Chavez, a 5-foot-9 point guard out of Texas, included the Tigers in her Top 10 schools with a visit now set in stone.

LSU sits alongside Texas Tech, USC, Arizona, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Ohio State, UCLA, Texas, and Tennessee in Chavez’s final 10 schools as the nation’s powerhouse programs compete for the top player in America.

Now, Mulkey and the Tigers will get their crack at the top 2025 prospect.

The numbers are significant for Chavez when it comes from a production standpoint. She averaged 30 points per game on 55% from the field as just a sophomore, but it gets better. From three-point range, Chavez knocked down 47% of her deep balls. As a freshman, she averaged 27 points a night.

For LSU, getting Chavez on campus is step No. 1 in securing her services and it’s clear this program will turn up the heat in a big way come next weekend for the top junior.

Sarah Strong: No. 1 Prospect in America

The top prospect in the 2024 class made her way to Baton Rouge for an official visit in September alongside Kate Koval as the two soaked in the scenes of Death Valley. It was a weekend that went “great” for Strong as she continues locking in on a decision.

For LSU, they feel pleased with their connection with Strong, but she’s in no rush to make a decision it appears. The five-star has also taken an official visit to Oregon with a trip to Louisville also on deck. UCONN is also in line to receive an official as well with Strong.

Mulkey and Co. have made their pitch and the staff went in-home for a visit as the Tigers continue developing a relationship with the No. 1 prospect.

Joyce Edwards: No. 2 Prospect in America

Edwards is the latest elite-level prospect to make her way to Baton Rouge after taking an official visit in late September.

The No. 2 prospect in the 2024 class was in town for the LSU-Arkansas game where she got to soak in the Death Valley atmosphere while taking time with the coaching staff during her three-day stay.

It’s simple. Edwards is a game-changer and LSU is putting its foot on the gas in order to lock down her services, but their competitors aren’t going down without a fight and Edwards is in no rush to shut down her process.

She’s set to take visits over the next few weeks to Stanford and South Carolina with Texas A&M also looking to secure a visit. For LSU, South Carolina remains a team to monitor given it’s the hometown squad.

The Tigers also sent their staff in-home for a visit with Edwards as she locks in on a decision over the next few weeks.
