Brian Kelly and his LSU staff put together the event of the summer after the Tigers held their Bayou Splash event on Friday.

It was another successful day for this program after reeling in several blue-chip prospects to campus and setting the table for what’s to come sooner rather than later.

The star-studded list included five-star after five-star with several high-priority targets staying the weekend in Baton Rouge.

Who’s on flip watch? Who’s in town for the weekend?

A few notes after Bayou Splash concluded:

Flip Watch?

LSU offered Natchitoches Central (La.) offensive lineman Joseph Cryer on July 26 and the Tigers have been trending ever since. The Ole Miss commit received an offer from his “dream school” in LSU and immediately made his way to campus.

Cryer hit Baton Rouge for Bayou Splash while also getting over to Oxford to visit the Rebels this weekend. It was a big get for the Tigers to host the fast-rising offensive lineman as he continues being a hot commodity on the recruiting trail.

After making his way to Baton Rouge, Cryer has shared rave reviews of his time down South, but could he be on flip watch and stay in Louisiana? Time will tell.

McKinley Bros. Drop In

The No. 1 player in Louisiana made his way to Bayou Splash on Friday after Dominick McKinley attended the star-studded event. Along with the older McKinley, his younger brother Darryus took the trip over from Lafayette to Baton Rouge as well.

It was a productive visit for McKinley who had the chance to hold one-on-one meetings with the coaching staff, mingle with other top prospects and soak in the scenes of Death Valley once again.

But that’s not all. [Darryus] McKinley accompanied his older brother for the event and walked away with an offer from LSU. He continues his meteoric rise as his offer sheet grows by the day. A rising sophomore, he remains on the Tigers radar in a big way.

LSU’s pursuit of Dominick remains in progress, and after getting the top player in Louisiana to town for Bayou Splash, it shows the Tigers are making an impact in his recruitment. LSU will look to get McKinley to town for an official visit this fall.

Xavier Atkins No Show

LSU linebacker commit Xavier Atkins was set to be in Baton Rouge for Bayou Splash, but instead took the trip to see Texas A&M once again.

It’s been a struggle to get Atkins back to Death Valley for a visit, and as his recruitment continues soaring, he’s taken his fair share of visits elsewhere.

Atkins went over to College Station where he could very well be on “flip watch” himself as the Tigers keep their options open at linebacker as well.

LSU reeled in a commitment from four-star Many (La.) linebacker Tylen Singleton in July and have kept tabs on other priority targets.

A coveted player on the trail, the Tigers will certainly push for his services, but it remains a mystery at this point in his recruitment process.

Duncanville Duo Staying The Weekend

Five-star EDGE Colin Simmons and four-star running back Caden Durham made the trek on over to Baton Rouge for Friday’s event and will now stay the weekend. It gives LSU the chance to continue working their magic before the dead period starts up again on Tuesday.

Durham, the lone running back LSU is recruiting in the 2024 cycle, reveals his college decision on August 25, making his unofficial visit that much more important. The Tigers have turned up the heat and are showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

When it comes to Simmons, he’s the jewel of the 2024 class. A Top 10 prospect nationally, he’s as coveted as they come in the cycle. LSU and Texas continue going head-to-head for his services as he soaks up the recruiting process.

LSU will have Simmons in town until Sunday, as it stands right now, which is another big step for Brian Kelly’s program in securing his services.
