Report: LSU running back Lanard Fournette leaving the program
Senior LSU running back Lanard Fournette has left the program, an LSU official confirmed to LSU Sports Illustrated Wednesday.
The brother of current Jacksonville Jaguar Leonard Fournette, Lanard appeared in 18 games for the Tigers in his career, rushing for 162 yards and two touchdowns while adding an additional 74 yards in receiving.
According to an ESPN report by Ed Aschoff, Fournette "just wants to move on with his life." Fournette graduated in May of 2019 and withdrew from school on Wednesday Aschoff wrote.
With Fournette no longer with the team, more duty should fall on junior Clyde Edwards-Helaire as well as freshmen running backs John Emery and Tyrion Davis-Price.
The freshmen have combined for 128 rushing yards and four touchdowns in four games this season.
No. 5 LSU takes on Utah State on Saturday at 11 a.m. to end its non-conference schedule.
