Nation's No. 1 Player and Major LSU Target Jalen Brewster Set to Make Final Decision

The nation’s No. 1 prospect in the 2027 class will be reaching a final decision this week.

Jalen Brewster, the five-star defensive lineman who just transferred from Cedar Hill, Texas, to Georgia high school football powerhouse Buford, will be deciding whether he sticks with his commitment to Texas Tech or flips to potentially LSU.

Despite being committed to the Red Raiders since last October, the top-ranked prospect has been far from shutting down his recruitment. In fact, he’s been very public about still considering what other programs besides Texas Tech have to offer.

During that course, Brewster took a number of high-profile official visits to schools such as Indiana, LSU, Florida, and Miami. Now, as he gets settled in at Buford for his senior season, it seems the talented five-star is going to be shutting things down.

Major Five-Star Flip Incoming?

His offer list includes nearly every major program in college football. The likes of Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, etc. have all thrown a hat in the proverbial ring. Yet it appears to be really coming down to LSU and Texas Tech.

The Red Raiders originally won out in this recruitment in October, as they were one of the first schools ever to offer Brewster in high school. Yet since head coach Lane Kiffin arrived at LSU, the Tigers have gained momentum under the Texas native.

At 6-foot-3 and 302 pounds, Brewster boasts experience on both sides of the ball. However, he seems destined to be an impact player on the defensive line, a spot where LSU is already off to a good start in the 2027 class.

Thus far, the Tigers have two committed prospects along the line, both edge rushers, with KJ Green, the five-star from Stone Mountain, Georgia, and Chris Whitehead, a four-star from Chesterfield, Virginia.

Kiffin already showed his knack for landing high-profile talent out of high school when he first arrived. Keeping 2026 five-star prospect Lamar Brown in the class, despite serious competition from the likes of Texas and Texas A&M for the Louisiana native.

Then he landed Green from the state of Georgia, a prospect who, like Brown, possessed offers from all over the nation.

Now, just as he’s about to kick off his first season in Baton Rouge, Kiffin could land the crown jewel of his first full recruiting class if he manages to flip Brewster away from Texas Tech.
