Two-way athlete incoming for Maryland?

Maryland football fans saw the near-finalized 2020 class back in February as the 27-man class was announced. One commit whose status remained up in the air was Potomac (Md.) wide receiver Corey Dyches, who remained a verbal to the Terps despite not signing.
While he remains unsigned, Maryland remains more than a viable landing spot for the local phenom. As word slowly trickled out that Dyches remained unsigned following signing day, schools across the country dug deep to learn about the electric two-sport athlete. As other Big Ten teams showed interest, Illinois officially jumped into the mix after the staff extended an offer to Dyches.
However, the opportunity to play at Maryland has evolved for the Potomac star.
After posting 24 points per game as Dyches became a catalyst for Potomac, the door for him to play both sports at Maryland is available. After watching his senior year, it’s easy to see why Maryland head basketball coach Mark Turgeon would look into the possibility of adding more local talent to the roster.
Dyches put a bow on his high school career after being named first team All-Met for both football and basketball, becoming just the second athlete since former Sherwood quarterback and point guard Deontay Twyman won both back in 2006-2007.
While Dyches has yet to sign, Dyches is training with former Maryland receiver James Milling, who also had a four-year stint in the NFL with the Falcons, Giants and Packers. Maryland fans will keep an eye on when the incoming class reports to campus this summer before the local three-star athlete makes his decision official. On the gridiron, Maryland replenished its wide receiver room with the last-minute flip of St. John’s five-star wide receiver Rakim Jarrett and signed Jersey receiver Nick DeGennaro and Florida receiver Deajaun McDougle.
