Miami Offers Broward County Recruit A Scholarship

The Canes continue to go hard after top South Florida recruits

The Miami Hurricanes are going after South Florida's best once again.

The 2025 recruiting class has Waden Charles already in the fold and numerous other offers extended to top prospects. The latest offer out to a South Florida prospect also comes from a familiar program.

Mario Cristobal and the Canes have 2024 running back recruit Chris Wheatley-Humphrey in the fold. From the class of 2025, cornerback Shmar Akande comes from Hollywood (Fla.) South Dade just like the Canes new and speedy running back.

His film shows a hard-hitting defender with tremendous size at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, and he has long arms that aid any defensive back with swatting away passes. Akande's film also has several plays in zone or man where he is comfortable near the line of scrimmage or playing off coverage.

His talents are being noticed. Akande just posted the following tweet to his X profile:

LSU, Maryland, Florida Atlantic, Tulane, and USF are some of the other offers for Akande. His comment inside the tweet does provide the notion that UM will be hard to beat.

"Every offer means a lot to me and my family, but there’s a special feeling when your local school makes the call."

It will be interesting to see if Akande makes any trips to Miami for a spring practice.
