Video & Analysis: Jim Harbaugh Lays Out Detailed Plan For Redshirting, Using Josh Ross

Josh Ross has missed much of the season for Michigan but it really has been a blessing in disguise.

Junior linebacker Josh Ross began the year as one of Michigan's starting linebackers but then he was injured, which actually proved be a blessing in disguise due to the emergence of redshirt freshman Cameron McGrone. Now you have McGrone entrenched as one of the star players on defense with Ross coming back next year with an extra year of eligibility according to Jim Harbaugh.

Michigan's head man broke down Ross' status and went into detail about what they intend to do with him the rest of the year and beyond.

Brown's Breakdown

This is really a best case scenario. McGrone clearly should be on the field and will be one of U-M's best players next fall and Ross can now play for two more years. They are a great couple of pieces to build around with Khaleke Hudson and Jordan Glasgow on their way out after this season.

Ross is a very productive player and has great leadership skills already as a true junior. He played sparingly as a freshman and a little bit more last year. He has tallied 83 tackles in his career, which includes five for loss and a sack. Throw in a redshirt year and two more seasons of playing time and he'll almost certainly be a captain before his time is done at Michigan.

How good can U-M's linebackers be next year? What will be their weakness and their strength? Comment below!!!
