Bryonna Davis Signs National Letters of Intent with Michigan State and Coach Suzy Merchant
EAST LANSING, Mich. -  Michigan State women’s basketball head coach Suzy Merchant announced today the signing of Bryonna Davis ( Merrillville , Ind. / Merrillville ) to a National Letter of Intent.Â

“We are very excited about the addition of Bryonna Davis,†said Merchant. “She is an athletic scoring guard with deep 3-point range. She will stretch the defense with her ability to knock down shots from behind the arc. Bryonna has a championship mentality having led Merrillville to its first-ever state championship game in school history.â€

As a senior, Davis led Merrillville with 20.7 points per game, while also averaging 3.1 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 3.6 steals. Her 559 points and 46 3-point field goals this season were both a school record. In this year’s sectional, Davis tied Merrillville ’s single-game record with 37 points against Michigan City . She led the team to the Indiana 4A final, its first in school history, while earning all-tournament honors.

Her senior season success earned her Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) First Team All-State and Associated Press Second Team All-State honors, in addition to being named the Northwest Indiana Times and Post-Tribune Player of the Year. Davis was also the Most Valuable Player of the Duneland Conference and was picked to the Indiana All-Star team, which will compete on June 11-12 against the Kentucky All-Stars. Davis played AAU for the Baylor Bucs this past year.

The daughter of Kim Adams and Chris Thomas, Davis was coached at Merrillville High School by Amy Govert.

Davis is the fourth member of the Spartans’ 2010 classs, joining Klarissa Bell (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing), Annalise Pickrel (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grand Rapids Catholic Central) and Madison Williams (Beverly Hills, Mich./Detroit Country Day), who all signed in the Fall.
