EAST LANSING, Mich. - Michigan State senior goalkeeper Jimmy Hague was one of 75 Division I players named to the Missouri Athletic Club 2018 Hermann Trophy Watch.

Complete Hermann Watch List

The MAC Hermann Trophy, presented by World Wide Technology, is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer and is presented annually to the most outstanding male and female players of the year. This year’s winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 4, 2019 at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.

Hague, a native of Walled Lake, Michigan, is the third Michigan State men’s soccer player named to the Hermann Watch List since goalkeeper Avery Steinlage in 2010. In 2017, forward Ryan Sierakowski earned a spot on the watch list as a junior. In 2014, midfielder Jay Chapman was named a semifinalist for the Hermann Trophy, becoming the first Spartan in school history to achieve the feat.

Hague is one of just three players from the Big Ten to earn a spot on the watch list along with Indiana’s Andrew Gutman and Michigan’s Jack Hallahan.

The reigning Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Year ended the 2017 season with an amazing goals against average of 0.62. He was the leader of the Spartan backline that captured 11 shutouts during a run to the Elite Eight.

Michigan State is back in action on Monday, Aug. 13 against another in-state foe. The Spartans will host a familiar foe in No. 14 Western Michigan. Last season, MSU and WMU met twice once in East Lansing and once in Kalamazoo with the Spartans capturing wins in both games.
