ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 22 Michigan State women’s golf team finished in 10th place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, which concluded Sunday afternoon at the University of Georgia Golf Course. The Spartans posted a team score of 14-over 878 (296-296-286) for the tournament and shot a 2-under 286 in the final round.

The competitive 23-team field included 12 programs ranked in the Golfweek Top 30.

The 39th edition of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic had a unique scoring system in place this year. Each team's starting of lineup of five golfers played together the entire round, rather than the traditional setup of three golfers playing together from various schools. In addition, each team's best four scores from each hole counted toward the final score, as opposed to the four best scores at the end of the round counting.

Sophomore Caroline Powers posted her 11th career top-20 finish by tying for 15th with an 8-over 224 (76-77-71). Powers carded the best round of the tournament for the Spartans on Sunday, shooting a 1-under 71 with three birdies.

Junior Lindsey Solberg also compiled her best round of the tournament on Sunday with an even-par 72. Solberg moved up seven spots on the leaderboard on Sunday, moving into a tie for 24th with a three-round total of 225 (77-76-72). She recorded three consecutive birdies on holes 14-16.

Senior Aimee Neff was right behind Solberg at 10-over 226 (75-76-75) to tie for 32nd.

Freshman Christine Meier finished with a 17-over 233 (76-78-79) after carding a 79 in her final round.

Rounding out the starting lineup was freshman Allyssa Ferrell, who shot her best round of the tournament with a 4-over 76 on Sunday. She finished at 243 (87-80-76).

Competing as an individual, senior Michelle Bowles closed out the tournament with a three-round total of 251 (83-84-84).

The Spartans return to action April 16-17 for the Lady Buckeye Invitational in Columbus, Ohio.
