Last Time Out...
The Spartans traveled to the Sun Angel Classic hosted by Arizona State on Saturday (April 10). Overall, the Spartans captured five individual crowns in the non-scored event. Placing first was Beth Rohl (hammer throw), the 4x100m relay team of Leslie Aririguzo, Erica Mann, Amelia Bannister and Charelise Davis, Durant Crum (long jump), Isaiah VanDoorne (5,000m run) and Josh McAlary (1,500m run).

Turning a school-record time of 4:19.67 in the 1,500m run was Emily MacLeod who placed fourth in the premier event. MacLeod narrowly edged former Spartan Lisa Senakiewich, who set the record last year at the 2009 Big Ten Championships, by 0.05.

Record-Breaking Spartans...
Although it's early in the outdoor season, the Spartans have already rewritten the MSU record books during the 2010 season. So far, four school records have been broken - one outdoor and three indoor:

Indoor:

• Rebecca Buchholtz (tied)
High Jump (1.81m (5-11.25)) - Big Ten Championships
• Kyron Foster
Triple Jump (15.69m (51-05.75)) - NCAA National Championships

• Brad Wentzel
Weight Throw (19.75m (64-09.75)) - Grand Rapids Championships

Outdoor:

• Emily MacLeod

1,500m run (4:19.67) - Sun Angel Classic
Foster an All-American...
Kyron Foster was the first Spartan in MSU history to be awarded All-America honors as a triple jumper due to his performance at the 2010 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Foster is the 50th indoor All-American all-time at Michigan State. Foster finished in 6th place with a school-record jump of 16.21m.

Big Ten Champion...
Foster claimed his first Big Ten title this year. Entering the event as the top-seeded jumper, Foster won the triple jump with a distance of 15.59m. For his action at the Big Ten Indoor Championship, Foster was awarded his second-consecutive All Big-Ten honor. This is the first time Foster has earned first-team recognition but it is his third overall All-Big Ten honor.
