Michigan State 2023 Target, Amir Herring, Gives Back

At 6-4, Michigan State 2023 target, Amir Herring, is more than what you see on the outside. He wants to give back to his community.

“I grew up going to Michigan State games, because my cousin was getting recruited by Michigan State. So, me and my family would go up there all the time. East Lansing is a special place,” Michigan State 2023 target, Amir Herring said.

The 4-star offensive tackle received his offer from Michigan State on August 31.

“I’m hoping to show colleges that I can play at the next level and can develop with their coaching. I want to show that I belong on the college football level.”

Taking his football career to the next level, Herring wants to use his platform to give back to those who have supported him and his teammates along the way.

“A lot of people don’t know that I’m trying to be the best role model in the community for the youth and everybody who’s around me in West Bloomfield. I’m trying to use my platform to inspire people and do the best I can to reach the youth.”

Herring helps out at youth organizations in his neighborhood and works with special education at West Bloomfield High School by interacting and playing unified basketball with them.

“I also talk to younger children groups about keeping your grades and doing the right things inside and outside of the classroom; being the best you can be with coaches and parents, and to dream big.”

One special person opened up Herring’s eyes into helping others.

“It didn’t hit that I wanted to help the youth and special needs until my mom brought up to ‘help others, help people in need, and you will genuinely feel that you are giving something in their lives.’”

“Everybody wants to be loved. Special needs want to be just like us, people don’t understand that. That’s where I’m trying to say to other people that they’re more than what you see. They are great, great, great kids.”

Amir Herring is also more than what you see on the outside.

“I’m more than an athlete. I feel like people see me as the football player and the kid who’s the offensive tackle at West Bloomfield. I want them to know that Amir is a good person on and off the field.”
