Michigan State Commit, Geno VanDeMark, Creating Momentum

Michigan State football recruiting is not where they hoped it'd be. However, the recent commit of Geno VanDeMark could turn things around.

Michigan State’s 25 head football coach, Mel Tucker, is known for being able to recruit.

With the sudden retirement of Mark Dantonio, Mel Tucker and his new coaching staff had to play a game of catch-up during the recruiting process.

A couple of main factors come into play when looking at Michigan State’s recruiting; Mel Tucker and his new coaching staff, and a worldwide pandemic.

While these two elements do not dismiss Mel Tucker’s ability in being able to commit recruits, it certainly does take a hit.

Currently, Michigan State is ranked number 66 in recruiting and is 13 out of the 14 Big Ten schools.

Obviously, not great.

However, with the commitment of 4-star offensive guard, Geno VanDeMark, and being Mel Tucker’s first 4-star commit, there is hope that Michigan State will be able to regain momentum the rest of the 2021 recruiting process.

In fact, one of VanDeMark’s teammates at St. Joseph Regional and buddy, Audric Estime, has Michigan State warm on his radar, according to 247Sports.

VanDeMark’s commitment to Michigan State could potentially lead to other 2021 recruits becoming Spartans as well.
