Spartan Nation is rabid about their sports. So let's dig right in on this week's questions and emails.
Hondo, you have been quiet about the Big Ten and football.
What do you think? Carl Sullivan
I think, at best, they looked sophomoric and foolish for how they handled the suspension and reinstatement. At worst, the Big Ten was negligent with the brand. The Big Ten Conference is the most prestigious of any conference, and they looked ridiculous with their messaging and their handling of this from day one.
Hondo, should Spartan fans be angry with Bill Beekman for how the football situation went down. Mike Leverette
Where did that come from? Of course not. Bill Beekman was staunch on player safety, but adamant that he wanted to play. Once again, people looking for someone to blame can take the low hanging fruit and go after Beekman, but that is not fair.
President Stanley, on the other hand, in my opinion, did a terrible job.
Hondo, how do you think Mel Tucker has been received in East Lansing? He hasn't had a shot yet at doing much, but I know some people in athletics, and I hear a lot of grumbling. Pete Thomas
For the most part, Pete, I think fans understand how bad the situation was that he inherited and have shown him grace. I believe inside, based on what people inside have told me, he has not endeared himself to a lot of people. I will write more about that later, but multiple people have complained about and shared things with me. But let's face it, it is a just win world, and if he does, none of the rest matters.
Hondo, what is the best/worst-case scenario for wins this season for Spartan Football? Sean Denison
I think two is the floor, and four is the ceiling for wins.
If the Spartans can get to five wins, it will have been a fantastic coaching performance.
Hondo, you seemed to be a big supporter of Mel Tucker.
What inspires you the most? Kelsey Wright
I love his relentless commitment to recruiting. I am not sure I would call myself a big supporter. I support him, but I think some concerns are germane and real, but he inherited a hot mess.
He deserves honest reporting of that.
He will not fix this immediately.
