Ex-Gophers guard Gabe Kalscheur joins Timberwolves' G League team

He'll be available for Friday's game.

The Iowa Wolves, the G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, added former Gophers guard Gabe Kalscheur from the available player pool on Monday, and he’ll be available for Friday’s game against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Kalscheur, 24, an Edina, Minn., native, played for the Gophers from 2018-21 and was a knockdown 3-point shooter his freshman year. His shooting percentage dropped off during his sophomore and junior years, and he ultimately transferred to Iowa State, where he played for two more seasons for the Cyclones.

For his college career, the 6-foot-4 guard averaged 10.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 38% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc.

Most recently, Kalscheur has appeared in 18 games this season for the Capital City Go-Go, the G League affiliate of the Washington Wizards, where he averaged 2.9 points, 0.4 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game.

Kalscheur will wear No. 20 for Iowa.
