Minnesota native Andrew Morgan, after starring for three years at North Dakota State University, odes not appear inclined to transfer to the University of Minnesota for one final season of college basketball.

The 6-foot-10 Waseca native reportedly visited the Golden Gophers basketball program in March. It was a visit that made sense on the Minnesota level after starting big man Pharrel Payne entered the transfer portal, leaving an opening in the starting lineup and in the Gophers frontcourt.

Recruiting service On3 is predicting Morgan is deciding between Creighton and Nebraska – and Nebraska might be the frontrunner after Morgan visited Lincoln on Wednesday.

“This is a one-of-a-kind place. It definitely made its case for where I’m going to go next," Morgan told On3.

Morgan, a second team All-Summit League player, averaged 12.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting 55.6% overall and 36.4% from 3-point range during the 2023-24 season.

How did Morgan's visit with the Gophers go?

"The visit to Minnesota went really well, I enjoyed it and it was a really good place," Morgan told Ryan James of GopherIllustrated.  "I was really intrigued on what they had to offer.  The facility was really nice, has a really nice cafeteria and locker rooms, and Minnesota has my major."

Minnesota's 2024-25 roster still has holes to fill after Payne, Braeden Carrington, Joshua Ola-Joseph were among five players to enter the transfer portal. They have yet to receive any commitments from players in the portal, though they are confirmed to be returning starters Eijah Hawkins, Mike Mitchell Jr. and Dawson Garcia – and head coach Ben Johnson is optimistic that standout freshman guard Cam Christie will return.

Another Minnesota native the Gophers were reportedly nterested in is Nate Heise, who has since committed to Iowa State after entering the portal after four years at Northern Iowa.
