Just A Bulldog Minute: Josh Hubbard’s Impact As A Freshman On The Men’s Basketball Team

How this freshman is making a difference on the court and what to expect from him during the matchup against Kentucky.

After a recent plethora of honors and recognitions conference-wide, freshman point guard Josh Hubbard is making an impact on the Mississippi State men’s basketball team.

Hubbard was ranked as No. 88 National Recruit by ESPN in 2023 and this freshman recruit will continue to show the team what he has to offer with years of eligibility left.

Hubbard has earned the SEC Freshman of The Week honor five times this season and will continue to improve his career stats throughout the rest of the season. Hubbard put up the most conference points during the matchup at LSU totaling 32 points.

He also put up 26 points against the Florida Gators and 25 points against the Tennessee Volunteers, however, his 32 points against the Tigers is the most scored by a State player under head coach Chris Jans.

During the non-conference season, Hubbard scores 29 points against Northwestern which is the most points for an MSU player since Tony Watts in 1989-90.

Even more than the single gams, Hubbards five games with over 20-points are ties for the nations lead and most by a Bulldog since 1988-89.

During the last matchup between the Bulldogs and Wildcats, Hubbard averaged three points and three assists per game while also grabbing a rebound. These numbers are bound to rise this Tuesday at 6 pm.
