March Madness is right around the corner and Mississippi State men's and women's basketball teams have some work to do.

The men's team will begin the SEC Tournament this Thursday while the women's team await their name to be called into the into the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. While both teams await their next game, here is what they look like moving forward.

For the women’s team, they have lost four of the last five games, including a first round exit to Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament.

The Bulldogs have struggled on the court recently and despite their recent woes, head coach Sam Purcell argued that their schedule and resume alone deserves them a tournament spot.

Meanwhile the men’s team will play LSU in Nashville on Thursday afternoon to begin their stand in sec tournament.

They lost to South Carolina at home this past weekend to close out the regular season, finishing with a 19-12 overall record. While they are projected as a 10 seed in the tournament, how they peformane in the sec tournament can really determine their postseason outcome heading into march madness.

Both teams have shown some offensive struggles and need some ignition to their offenses if they want to see some results in the postseason. For them, they have some work to do moving forward, especially with the competition bound to be getting harder moving into March.
