STARKVILLE, Miss – The Mississippi State Bulldogs welcome the Evansville Purple Aces to Dudy Noble Field for a three-game series. This will be another vital weekend for MSU, but for different reasons than last week.

Last weekend, the Bulldogs needed to build some momentum, which they did. However, this week, Mississippi State must maintain its momentum and avoid setbacks.

A 3-4 start to the season has afforded the Bulldogs minimum wiggle room in non-conference games, but MSU has bounced back. The pitching staff is the reason behind this, and it will be critical for MSU to maintain their pace and continue building momentum with the defending national champions, LSU, coming to Starkville next week.

The Bulldogs must not look ahead, as they need to take care of Evansville this weekend. A key player for MSU will be Hunter Hines. The lefty has yet to hit a home run, but he is critical to this Bulldog lineup, so they need him to get going.

Last time out, Bulldogs: Mississippi State had their most impressive win of the season in their previous 5-4 win over Southern Miss. A disastrous first inning put the Bulldogs in an early 4-0 deficit. However, Bulldogs relievers pitched eight scoreless after that, and a seven-inning home run by Dakota Jordan led MSU to their sixth straight win.
