Mississippi State Women's Basketball Coach Sam Purcell Calls Out Loaded List of MSU Doubters

Mississippi State women's basketball coach Sam Purcell has been keeping tabs on who has doubted the Lady Bulldogs.

If you've ever been skeptical of the heights Mississippi State women's basketball can reach, there's a good chance that head coach Sam Purcell has taken note.

And he's quite literally got a list that he's ready to fire off at any given time -- one that includes some pretty high-profile names, too. The "talk to me nice" list included the likes of Charlie Creme, Candace Parker, A’ja Wilson, Joe Biden and Barack Obama.

“We’ve got some new people that are not believing in the Bulldogs,” he said. “We’ve got Candace Parker, who did not put us in the bracket. We’ve got President Biden, who did not put us in, A’ja Wilson and Barack Obama.”

There's no doubting that Purcell has proven he can walk the walk in a successful first season with the team that currently holds a 22-10 overall record, preparing to face the No. 3-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday afternoon in South Bend, Indiana.

MSU most recently knocked off No. 6-seeded Creighton Bluejays on Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, building off of a 70-56 victory over the Illinois Fighting Illini in the First Four.

How they continue to fight on for a program that looks to be on the rise will be something to watch.
