Mississippi State Knows What it Needs to do to be Bowl Eligible

To keep its season going after the Egg Bowl, the Bulldogs will have the defy the odds and pull off at least one upset.

After Mississippi State football took a lackluster 24-3 loss to Kentucky on Saturday, the Bulldogs were left 4-5. For a team that only has one Southeastern Conference win, below .500 is exactly where it doesn't want to be.

It's been a long season for MSU, but there is still time to collect two more wins to be bowl eligible. The Bulldogs have three more games: at Texas A&M, Southern Miss, and Ole Miss.

Mississippi State will travel to College Station to take on the Aggies this weekend. Texas A&M is 5-4 after suffering a loss to Ole Miss this past weekend. However, last year Mississippi State took the victory over the Aggies in Starkville.

"I'm confident our guys are going to come work," Mississippi State head coach Zach Arnett said.

As for Southern Miss, MSU is 15-14-1 in the series, but in this case the odds are in the Bulldogs' favor. Although they're coming off a 24-7 victory over ULM, the Golden Eagles are just 2-7 this season. State will have the advantage of playing at home, but considering the offensive woes  the game will still have its challenges.

As for the Rebels, Ole Miss has a five-game winning streak going 8-1. Ole Miss is currently ranked No. 10. However, the Rebels have a tough job of taking on Georgia this weekend.

The bottom line is that even with a win against Southern Miss, Mississippi State is going to need to pull off an upset. The early line on the Texas A&M game is the Aggies by 18 points, and they're not ranked in the latest AP Top 25.
