Around The SEC: Rece Davis Sheds Light On Possible Silver Lining Of Brock Bowers Injury, Future Of Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia suffered a huge blow with the injury to star tight end Brock Bowers, but college football analyst Rece Davis sees a potential silver lining.

The Georgia Bulldogs took a hit with an ankle injury to standout tight end Brow Bowers during Saturday's win over Vanderbilt.

It was announced Monday that Bowers would miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing tightrope surgery on the ankle. This is devastating news not only for the reigning national champions, but for the Heisman Trophy chances of Bowers, who has very much been in the running for the best player in college football.

While the absence of Bowers sounds like something that could be a large concern, college football analyst Rece Davis actually sees a silver lining in it all.

“When they come out on the other side and he returns hopefully to full health … they might have developed other weapons,” Davis said. “Because while it has been great for Carson Beck to have Brock Bowers as a security blanket, with him not being there, he will have to find someone else.

“And then maybe when they’re playing in the SEC Championship Game … they might have a couple. It’s not a good thing for sure because that dude is a stud and the centerpiece of their offense. But I’m not panicked about what they have coming up.”

With a team that has the type of depth that Georgia does, there is the expectation that the Bulldogs will be able to reload and make up for Bowers' absence.

Bowers totals 41 catches for 567 yards and 4 touchdowns so far in the 2023 season.
