After a 24-3 loss to the Kentucky Wildcats, Mississippi State took a hard loss to their homecoming game. Now with a 4-5 record, the Bulldogs risk their chance of winning another conference game and having bowl eligibility.

Here's what head coach Zach Arnett said about the atmosphere of the game:

"I can't think of a fan base enough for the environments they've created every time here." he said, "we had a great crowd tonight."

He continued on to consider the fans and their feelings for the atmosphere created around the game and the outcome.

"I'm disappointed the fans didn't have a better outcome to celebrate but they did a tremendous job showing up and supporting players."

At the beginning up the game, the environment was at an all-time high. Students and families filled the stadiums and the sounds of Cowbells filled David Wade. However, as the game made its way to halftime, the score showed to be in favor of the Wildcats, and the fans and energy dwindled.

Arnett noticed this and discussed the emotional control of the team when the game goes this route, and how that affects the way they play.

"We talked about quite a bit but let's play this game with emotion," he said. "but you can never lose the emotional control. Because at the end of the day, if you get penalties, whether it be you know, the 15-yard variety that either set you back or gave the offense, give their offense additional 15 yards. all you're really doing is hurting the team. So you have to play this game with tremendous emotion and passion but you can never lose emotional control."

His emphasis on keeping control helped the team to play to the best of their abilities all four quarters. Although a hard loss, Arnett never lets the team lose their emotional control of the game.

"We thought we get a good roll after it hits so they have a really long field. But then there's a 15 yard penalty. You can never lose emotional control. And both teams in both teams play with equal levels of emotion. You got to get all the way."
