Did You Notice?

• Max Scherzer left Game 3 of the World Series int he fourth inning after a spasm flared in his back. He told reporters that he felt a twinge in his back on a slider he threw to Arizona's  Evan Longoria in the third inning, and his back eventually "locked up." The Rangers still won 3-1.

• Neither Jordan Clarkson nor Michael Porter Jr. could reach double-digits in scoring as the Nuggets pulled off a 110-102 home victory against the Jazz. Clarkson was 2-for-10 from the field, and finished with four points, three rebounds and six assists. Porter had eight points on 3-for-8 shooting.

On This Day in Mizzou History:

October 31, 1891: Missouri opened its second season with a 22-10 loss to Kansas in Kansas City. However, it was the lone setback of the four-game season.

October 31, 1998: Devin West ran for 133 yards and three touchdowns as No. 18 Missouri won at soggy Texas Tech, 28-26.

Quote of the Day

“Bear Bryant, Woody Hayes, a lot of the coaches, great, great coaches, Don James who I worked for, most of those guys had 95, 105, 115 scholarships at least a portion of their career. I don’t know that anybody has done as consistent a job at coaching with 85 scholarships as Nick Saban has. I’m not telling you this because he’s my friend, but because I have great respect. To win at the level he’s won, year after year after year, you don’t see anybody doing it like that with his consistency. He’s a great football coach, a good friend. Sometimes I don’t think he gets the credit he’s due.” — Gary Pinkel in 2014 about his former Kent State teammate Nick Saban, who turns 72 today.
