On This Date In Mizzou History
November 8, 1947: To quote United Press: "Missouri's ball-hiding backfield beat a path around Duke's ends and clicked with passes over its secondary today to run up a stinging 28-to-7 upset victory, the biggest margin ever scored over a Blue Devil team coached by Wallace Wade." Host Duke was ranked No. 13 at the time.
November 8, 1969: The Tigers rallied from being down 10 points to score 44 unanswered points as No. 9 Missouri routed No. 20 Oklahoma, 44-10.
November 8, 1997: Lost to No. 1 Nebraska 45-38 on overtime after the Cornhuskers tied the the game during the final play of regulation on what was called the "Flea Kicker." Nebraska had the ball at the Mizzou 12 with seven seconds remaining. Shevin Wiggins had the pass from Scott Frost hit him in the chest, deflect down, hit a Missouri safety in the foot and bounce in to the air. As Wiggins was tackled his leg struck the ball, with Matt Davidson securing it in the end zone for the touchdown.
Quote of the Day
"There's a stat out there that this is the first time since '79 two top-16 teams are playing at Faurot Field. I think it's really awesome. So we got a heck of a challenge."
— Eliah Drinkwitz on facing Tennessee this week
