Missouri Adds Experienced Miami Linebacker Transfer Corey Flagg Jr.

Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz picks up second linebacker from the transfer portal.

Missouri continues to put the recruiting world on notice with another transfer portal pickup. Corey Flagg Jr. is a linebacker from the Miami Hurricanes.

Flagg will bring valuable experience to the Tigers defense. Throughout his career with the Hurricanes, he has recorded 179 total tackles. He also has 5.5 sacks in his time at Miami.

This past season, Flagg secured 48 total tackles to go along with a forced fumble. He was the fourth leading tackler behind three future potential NFL draft prospects. Flagg was one of seven defensive players to force a fumble for the Hurricanes this season.

Flagg did not start this season, which may be his reason for the transfer. Regardless, he was still able to make a large impact without starting snaps. He has starting experience however, starting all 12 games in 2021 and nine games in 2022.

Flagg has played four seasons of college football already with one more year of eligibility. The Tigers are losing their top linebacker to the NFL Draft in Ty'Ron Hopper, so that starting spot could be open. Senior Chuck Hicks announced he is returning, and junior linebacker Triston Newson had a strong finish to his regular season.

Not to mention, the Tigers added Georgia linebacker Darris Smith on Wednesday. They now have two new linebackers with college experience as well as incoming freshmen Brian Huff and Nicholas Rodriguez.

The transfer portal is non-stop during the offseason, so new additions and departures could come at any time for the Tigers. One big name to watch is Florida defensive lineman Chris McClellan, who is considering Oklahoma, Missouri and Colorado.
