Mizzou Football Injury Updates Ahead of Georgia Matchup

Coach Drinkwitz provided notable injury updates, with a few Mizzou players returning to full health.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — Missouri football received some promising injury updates from head coach Eli Drinkwitz regarding Saturday's game at Georgia.

After a bye week of rest ahead of a highly-anticipated matchup with the No. 1 Bulldogs, running back Cody Schrader, defensive back Ennis Rakestraw Jr. and offensive lineman Marcellus Johnson have completely recovered from their injuries.

For the first time in six weeks, Schrader was able to practice without a non-contact jersey, a huge progression in the graduate student's recovery from a lingering quad injury.

Getting all of these players fully healthy for the most important game of the Missouri season is a massive boost heading into Athens, and it was the priority during the team's break.

"The goal was to get better, get healthy and get ahead on Georgia," Drinkwitz said. "I think we accomplished that goal."

The injury news wasn't all positive though, as linebacker Chad Bailey was considered "questionable at best" for Georgia by Drinkwitz. The senior hasn't played since Missouri's loss against LSU at the beginning of the month and was left out of practice yesterday, but will still be reevaluated Thursday for a final decision on his status.

Coming off a dominant Homecoming win and two weeks of rest, the Tigers have set themselves up nicely for a potential upset win over the No. 1 team in the country. Georgia is dealing with its own injuries – most notably of tight end Brock Bowers – that could leave the Bulldogs with a slightly diminished offense against a near 100 percent Missouri roster.
