Missouri Softball vs Auburn Game 1: Live Updates

Follow along as the Tigers from the Midwest take on the Tigers from the South in the first matchup of their four-game series.

After slicing through its non-conference slate, No. 12/12 Missouri softball is looking for its 19th win of the season in the first game of a three-game series against No. 25/25 Auburn.

How it Happened

  • Auburn threatened in the top of the first, as KK McCrary took a four-pitch walk to lead off the inning. She advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt and a fielder's choice, respectively, but Krings struck out Amanda Lech to end the inning.
  • Kara Daly smashes a two-run home run to left field. 2-0 Missouri
  • Laurin Krings is rolling through the first couple of innings. Her only blemish was the four-pitch walk in the first inning.
  • Missouri got to Auburn superstar pitcher a little more in the bottom of the second. Chantice Phillips and and Kayley Lenger both ripped two-out singles into left field, but Missouri couldn't capitalize. Jenna Laird almost beat out a ground ball to the shortstop, but she was half a step late, and Penta avoided further damage.
  • Krings just recorded her 500th career strikeout in the top of the third.
  • Auburn gets on the board with an RBI single by Amelia Lech in the top of the fourth. 2-1 Missouri.
  • The road Tigers quickly add another, as a ground ball up the middle by Nelia Peralta finds the outfield grass. 2-2
  • After two scoreless half-innings, Julia Crenshaw hits a three-run moonshot to left field to break the tie. 5-2 Missouri
  • Through five innngs, Krings has given up just two hits and has struck out six batters. Penta has allowed the most runs (5) and earned runs (3) in any start this season.
  • Krings is set to start the bottom of the seventh with Missouri still up 5-2.
  • FINAL: Missouri 5, Auburn 2.
