Torry Holt won't formally be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame until December 10 in New York, but Wolfpack fans will get the chance to celebrate with the school and ACC record-holder on Thursday in a ceremony during their team's nationally televised game against Syracuse.

Holt is the sixth State player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining Ted Brown (1975-78), Dennis Byrd (1964-67), Roman Gabriel (1959-61), Jack McDowall (1925-27) and Jim Ritcher (1976-79).

A native of Gibsonville, Holt rewrote the State and ACC record books during his career with the Wolfpack between 1995-98. He was a consensus first-team All-American in 1998, was a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award and the only receiver in the top 10 of the Heisman Trophy voting that year while earning ACC Player of the Year honors.

Holt is still the Wolfpack's leader in career (3,379), single-season (1,604 in 1998) and single-game (255 vs. Baylor, 1998) receiving yards. He also held the Wolfpack record for single-season receptions (88 in 1998) until Jakobi Meyers broke the mark last season and his 15 catches against Wake Forest in 1998 is still tied for the most in school history.

"Torry Holt was a human highlight reel at NC State," National Football Foundation president & CEO Steve Hatchell said in a statement. "He rewrote the school and conference record books during his remarkable career, and we are thrilled to honor him at Carter-Finley Stadium."
