NC State coach Dave Doeren didn't spend much time with the media in his final availability before Saturday's game at West Virginia, but he did have a lot to say about getting off to a good start against a team coming off a bad loss, what a road win would mean to his program and the importance of putting pressure on a young quarterback that has struggled through the season's first two games.

Here's the video ...

"You always want to have a good start. What I told them is that we're playing a very proud program, a bunch of players that are used to winning games in a stadium that has a lot of tradition of winning and has a great crowd. So we've got to handle our business. Whether they find themselves or not, we've got to play really good football in a hostile environment."

On what a road win against a Power 5 opponent would mean to the program ...

"Obviously the competition level goes up with the conference (the Big 12) we're playing against. It's a team that historically has been really good. Winning on the road in someone else's stadium when its sold out is hard to do. So it would be a great step for our program."

On the need to put pressure on Mountaineers quarterback Austin Kendall ...

'He's different. The last couple guys have been mobile, so you always try to have your pressure packages, your line stunts and things you do based on mobility and launch points. So we'll have, just like every week, the things we like to do to get after the quarterback. Sometimes it's pressure, sometimes it's not."
"I think the thing that (co-defensive coordinators) Dave (Huxtable) and Tony (Gibson) do a good job of is having a mix of both and making the quarterback have an idea of what's coming all the time. They do a good job of disguising things, moving around and staying on side. (WVU does) a lot of hard counts. They use their cadence well. It's one of those games if you can rush the passer against a guy that's in his third game as a college starter, it helps."
